A Traffic Source represents the origin of your traffic. This can be a DSP (Demand-Side Platform) or any other traffic-buying platform.
Within each Traffic Source, you can configure the tracking parameters specific to that source. Once configured, the platform automatically generates the correct tracking URL for your campaigns. This means you don’t need to make manual adjustments—simply copy the URL from Aftrad and paste it directly into the traffic-buying platform.
Additionally, you can set up a postback URL to notify the Traffic Source about the events generated from the acquired traffic (such as conversions). This allows the Traffic Source to optimise the quality and volume of traffic being delivered to you.
Let's go step by step.
Go to Traffic sources in the left navigation menu, and in the Traffic source list, click on Create.
A dropdown lists all available Traffic Source adapters. Select the Traffic Source adapter you need. If it doesn’t appear in the list, contact your account manager to request that it be added.
Once selected, the Traffic Source editor will open. The default parameters and macros are prefilled with the standard settings used by that Traffic Source, and you can edit them as needed.
Important!
After the Traffic Source is created, its adapter cannot be changed. If you need a different adapter, create a new Traffic Source.
Optionally, you can configure a Postback URL to notify the Traffic Source of the public events defined in the Offer. When one of these events occurs, Ad Tracking Hub will send a postback using the parameters and macros you’ve set.
Note: The Postback URL is defined per Traffic Source. You must retrieve it from the platform where you buy traffic (e.g., your DSP/ad network) and paste it here.
The {external_event_id}
macro will be replaced at runtime with the unique ID sent by the Traffic Source, in the parameter you mapped to that macro.
Example: ...&external_event_id=
${SUBID} → the platform substitutes {external_event_id}
with the ID provided by the source.
