Postback Troubleshooting

If a postback isn't firing or a conversion isn't being reported to the right place, this guide will help you quickly identify the cause. Follow the section that matches where the problem is occurring — the Affiliate side or the Advertiser side.

Affiliate postback not working

This section covers cases where a conversion is recorded in Aftrad but the affiliate is not receiving the postback notification.

1. Is a postback URL configured for this affiliate?

Go to the affiliate's profile and check General → Postbacks. If no postback URL is set, the platform has nowhere to send the notification.

Fix: Add the affiliate's postback URL. Make sure it includes the correct macros for your setup.

2. Is click_id being received in the tracking link?

The affiliate postback relies on the click_id value passed through the tracking link. Check the Tracking link tests section to confirm whether click_id is arriving correctly.

If click_id is missing or empty: The affiliate's tracking link is not replacing the {click_id} macro. This is an issue on the affiliate's side — they need to update their tracking URL so the macro is correctly passed through.

3. Is the conversion recorded in Aftrad?

Navigate to Advertiser Events and check whether the conversion appears there.

If the conversion is not in Advertiser Events: The issue is on the Advertiser side — no event was received by Aftrad to trigger the affiliate postback. Follow the Advertiser postback not working section below.

4. Is the payout rule set to Public?

Go to the offer's Payouts & Events tab and check the payout rule visibility. A payout rule set to Private will not trigger an affiliate postback — the conversion is recorded internally but is not forwarded to the affiliate.

Fix: Set the payout rule to Public if the affiliate should receive a postback for this event.

Still not resolved?

If you've gone through all the steps above and the postback is still not working, contact Aftrad support. Include the click_id and any relevant logs to speed up the investigation.

Advertiser postback not working

This section covers cases where Aftrad is not receiving the conversion event from the Advertiser.

1. Is the event visible in Advertiser Events?

Go to Advertiser Events and search for the conversion in question.

If the event is not there: Aftrad has not received anything from the Advertiser. Ask the Advertiser to share the exact postback URL they are firing, including all parameter values. Confirm that the URL they have configured matches the postback URL you provided them.

Once you have the URL, validate the click_id value using the Decoder tool. If the click_id is invalid or malformed, the Advertiser needs to fix how they are mapping the parameter on their side.

2. What is the event status?

If the event is present in Advertiser Events, check the Status column.
